Lichen on rocks can be found in places ranging from high up in the mountains to dense rainforests, basically anywhere where moisture can accommodate. I tried to recreate these types of rocks procedurally in blender, and I'm fairly happy with how it turned out
The best part about procedural textures? It's fully customizable and the node group makes it easy to play around with so that you can create your own variations of the texture!

You'll get 2 .blend files which I used to render the cover images, one with the material applied on a subdivided cube, and the other with the material applied on a plane, the files also contain an HDRI by polyhaven used for lighting the scene
Material too heavy on your device?
Disconnect the normal and roughness socket in the bsdf, and change the displacement settings from "Displacement and bump" to "Displacement only", in all likelihood, your viewport should get significantly faster without much loss in quality
